Vladimirci, Serbia

Here is my short biography:

I was born on March 3, 1942 in Croatia. The beast of II World War has left my mom, a pregnant woman, not only without a minimal hygienic conditions to deliver her child to this world, but also without a comfort of the fire and roof. I was born as refuge, somewhere in the snow, in wilderness. Croatian Nazis have expelled and slaughtered almost all who were Serbs. Jews, Gypsies and Serbs were citizens out of law. Sad coincidence or what, but right now, and this lasts from 1995 – I am again a refuge.

I am retired professor of Croatian and Serbian language and novelistic. I’ve worked also as an actor (in theater) and have played in over 60 dramas, mainly in Zagreb – Croatia (Theater of Poetry) but also on the stages all over former Yugoslavia. My literary opus includes over 20 published books (poetry, critics, essays, novels, poetry for kids). During 1991-1995 I was minister of culture in Republic of Srpska Krajina, and then have founded The Legacy of Srpska Krajnina, which has been burned and completely devastated. A many of my paintings has been lost there, too.

Now I live in Serbian little town (or a big village) Vladimirci, near Sabac (Serbia). I live in 30 square meters, and my little flat is now the only Legacy with what has being rescued when over 250,000 Serbs have survived exodus from Croatia (in 1995).
