Calendula – Caraway

Let’s Talk Herbs…

Calendula

Calendula is a hardy plant with lovely yellow and orange blooms.  This was just the only one blooming when I took the picture. The foliage gives a nice effect in herbal garden and the blooms stand out, blooming all summer and reseeding.  The blooms can be used in salads or an attractive addition as a garnish on plate.  It will continue to come back from seeds for several years.  I really like this plant!

This past year I even bought more seed but it was unable to survive with the hot temperatures and no rain.  I missed this lovely plant.  Normally, they are very hardy but we had bad conditions last season as much of the country and world did with all the climate changes.

Caraway

As you can see, I have to do better with this plant! It needs a better place to grow. It grows a lot like fennel and needs water quite often. Caraway seed can be used in breads.
