When you thought I wasn't looking
A message every adult should read, because children are watching
you and
doing as you do, not as you say...
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the
refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned
that it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me
and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there
is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a
friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of
each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to
help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something
should give to those who don't.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and
everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your
responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would
have to be responsible when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I
learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be
everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I
need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say,
"Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking."

Might As Well Dance
This was written by an 83 year old...The last
line says it all.
Dear Bertha,
I'm reading more and dusting less.
I'm sitting in the yard
and admiring the view without fussing about the weeds in the garden.
I'm spending more time
with my family and friends and less time working.
Whenever possible, life should
be a pattern of experiences to savor, not to endure. I'm trying to recognize
these moments now and cherish them.
I'm not "saving" anything; we use our good china and crystal for every special
event such as losing a pound,
getting the sink unstopped, or the first Amaryllis
blossom.
I wear my good blazer to the market.
My theory is if I look prosperous, I can
shell out $28.49 for one small bag of groceries..
I'm not saving my good perfume for special parties,
but wearing it for clerks in
the hardware store and tellers at the bank.
"Someday" and "one of these days" are losing their grip on my vocabulary;
if
it's worth seeing or hearing or doing, I want to see and hear and do it now.
I'm not sure what others would've done had
they known they wouldn't be here for
the tomorrow that we all take for granted.
I think they would have called family members and a few close friends.
They
might have called a few former friends to apologize and mend fences for past
squabbles.
I like to think they would have gone out for a Chinese dinner or for whatever
their favorite food was.
I'm guessing; I'll never know.
It's those little things left undone that would make me angry if I knew my hours
were limited.
Angry because I hadn't written certain letters that I intended to
write one of these days.
Angry and sorry that I didn't tell my husband and
parents often enough how much I truly love them.
I'm trying very hard not to put
off, hold back, or save anything that would add laughter and luster to our
lives.
And every morning when I open my eyes, I tell myself that it is special.
Everyday, every minute, every breath truly is a gift from God.
If you received this, it is because someone cares for you.
"People say true friends must always hold hands, but true friends don't need to
hold hands because they know the other hand will always be there."I don't believe in miracles. I rely on them.
Life may not be the party we hoped for,
but while we are here we might as well dance.

I wish you a day of ordinary miracles-

A fresh pot of coffee
you didn't have to make yourself.
An unexpected phone call from
an old friend.
Green stoplights on your
way to work or shop.
I wish you a day of little things to rejoice in..
The fastest line at the grocery store.
A good sing along song on the radio.
Your keys right where you look.

I wish you a day of happiness and
perfection-
little bite-size pieces of perfection
that give you the funny
feeling that the Lord is smiling
on you,
holding you so gently
because
you are someone special and rare.
I wish You a day of Peace Happiness
and Joy.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate
them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.
